Terms of Service
Last updated 22 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Z Chat. By using Z Chat or creating an account you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.
Z Chat is operated as the Zverse project; the operator's legal details are available on request via [email protected].
Your account
- You must be 13 or older to use Z Chat. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use it with a parent or guardian's agreement.
- Give accurate details when you sign up, and keep your login secure.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account, so use your own device, passcode and passkeys.
- One account per person. Accounts are approved by hand, and are not transferable.
- You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Privacy & security → Safety & account, or by following the steps on the account deletion page.
Acceptable use
Z Chat carries content posted by its users, and there is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Do not use Z Chat to:
- harass, threaten, bully or impersonate anyone;
- send spam, scams, or bulk unsolicited messages;
- share content that is illegal, or that sexualises minors, or that solicits or exposes a minor in any way;
- share someone else's private information, such as an address or phone number, without their permission;
- post content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights;
- upload malware, or attempt to break, overload or probe the service or other users;
- evade a suspension or ban, including by creating another account or working around a device-level block;
- scrape or bulk-copy other people's content, or resell access to the service.
Every message has a report button, and you can block anyone from the same place. Reports go to the moderators; see our Support page for how it works. Reports of illegal content, or of anything involving a child, are handled first.
Your content
What you send stays yours. You give Z Chat only the permission needed to run the service: to store, transmit and deliver your messages, photos and calls to the people you send them to, and to review content when something is reported. We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train anything.
Moderation and suspension
Messages and media are checked automatically and can be checked by a moderator when something is reported. Messages are also rotated: once the message store approaches 15 GiB the oldest messages are deleted, and the newest 50,000 are always kept.
Moderators may remove content, and may suspend or close an account, if it breaks these terms or puts other people at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why. If you think a decision was wrong, email [email protected] and we will look at it again. You can always delete your own account from Profile → Privacy & security → Safety & account.
Paid items
Z Chat itself is free. Optional items, such as a custom lunch card, are paid for once through card checkout at the price shown before you pay, and the payment is processed by Stripe — we never see your card details.
- A lunch card is a physical item. It is produced and handed over after payment, and carries a 2-month warranty against defects.
- Because each card is made to order with your own photos and details, it cannot be resold, so change-of-mind cancellations are not automatic — contact us and we will do what is reasonable, including a replacement or refund if the card is faulty or never arrives.
- Paid plans, if any are offered, renew automatically for the period shown at checkout until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the plan page in the app or by emailing us; access continues until the end of the period you have paid for. Cancelling a plan does not cancel a physical order that has already been made.
- Nothing here removes rights you have under the consumer law that applies to you.
Availability and changes
The service is provided as it is, and features can change or be withdrawn. We do not promise it will always be available or error-free — it is run on our own hardware and sometimes needs maintenance. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Z Chat is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. The date at the top shows the current version, and continuing to use Z Chat after an update means you accept it. If a change is significant we will announce it in the app before it takes effect.
