Delete your account

You do not need to sign in, or have the app installed, to read this page.

You can delete your Z Chat account at any time. There are two routes: in the app, which is immediate, or by email if you can no longer sign in.

In the app (immediate)

1. Sign in to Z Chat.
2. Open Profile, then Privacy & security.
3. Find the Safety & account section.
4. Press Delete account and type DELETE to confirm.
5. You are signed out and the account is gone.

By email (if you cannot sign in)

1. Email [email protected] from the address on the account.
2. Use the subject Delete my account.
3. Include your username, and the email address the account uses.

If we cannot tell from the sending address that the account is yours, we will ask one confirming question first. We will never ask for your password.

What is deleted

• Your account and sign-in: email address, password, passkeys and sessions.
• Your profile: display name, profile photo and username.
• Data tied to the account: conversation memberships, blocked list, push subscriptions, notification settings and saved Z AI conversations.

What may be kept

• Moderation records: reports you filed or that were filed about you, and how they were handled.
• Billing records: orders and payment records we must keep for accounting and tax. Card details are held by Stripe, not by us.
• Messages you already sent: these are not necessarily removed from other people's conversations. They stay subject to the message rotation rule — the oldest messages are deleted once the store approaches 15 GiB, and the newest 50,000 are always kept.
• Files you uploaded: stored on our own server with those messages.
• Backups: a deleted account can briefly remain in a daily backup until that backup ages out of the short rolling window. Backups are only used to restore the service after a failure.

How long it takes

Deleting in the app takes effect immediately. Email requests are normally actioned within 7 days of us confirming you are the account holder; we will reply when it is done.
